The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended 16 individuals suspected of involvement in the murder of Inspector Christiana Erekere, who tragically lost her life in the line of duty on April 25, 2024. The incident, which occurred in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, has sent shockwaves through the community.
According to reports from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, Inspector Erekere’s death unfolded during a routine checkpoint stop at the Bori Police Station.
A group traveling in a Lexus car allegedly grew hostile when asked for routine checks. Their refusal to comply led to a confrontation with officers, during which Inspector Erekere was fatally attacked, purportedly over a dispute regarding a recorded video.
Inspector Erekere was rushed to Nnadum Hospital in Bori but tragically succumbed to her injuries. The Rivers State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the matter, vowing to bring all perpetrators to justice.
The Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and reassures the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order in the state. Inspector Erekere’s body has been transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
