A seven Storey building under construction, belonging to Swiss International Hotel , has collapsed in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers state.
The building which is situated along Woji Road in GRA phase II of the city collapsed Friday trapping construction workers. Rescue workers say about eleven workers were rescued alive while the number of those trapped in the debris remains unknown.
An eye witness who spoke to our reporter said a trapped victim made a phone call saying he and others were still alive and trapped in the underground floor of the building.
The Rivers state commissioner for information and communication, Mr. Emma Okah was present at the site and helped coordinate rescue operations in an effort to rescue more survivors.
