Abuja, Nigeria – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has denied allegations of owing the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) any outstanding land fees.
In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker clarified that he has fully settled all payments related to his land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since October 2024.
The statement followed reports that the FCTA had revoked the land titles of several prominent individuals, including the Speaker, due to non-payment of required fees.
“For the record, His Excellency, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has only one land allocated to him in the FCT and has since settled his outstanding payment in October 2024, following the FCTA’s newspapers’ publications to that effect,” the statement read.
The Speaker criticized the inclusion of his name in the FCTA’s list of individuals with outstanding payments, calling it an error. He urged the FCTA to handle such matters with greater caution.
Additionally, Speaker Abbas called on the media to verify their facts before publishing, warning against the dissemination of misleading information.
“The media are, therefore, urged to desist from further publishing or spreading such misleading information about the person of the Speaker,” the statement concluded.
The Speaker maintained that all necessary fees had been paid, dismissing any suggestion of non-compliance with FCTA regulations.
