Accra, Ghana – Ghanaian actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo, has announced the passing of his father, John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr., at the age of 75.
Dumelo shared the heartbreaking news on Saturday via X (formerly known as Twitter), reflecting on their final moments together and expressing deep gratitude for his father’s support throughout his life.
In an emotional tribute, Dumelo recounted their last conversation, which touched on topics including politics, business, farming, and advice for his imminent swearing-in as a Member of Parliament. He also acknowledged the close bond they shared and the significant void his father’s death will leave behind.
“At 75, you lived your life well,” Dumelo wrote. “Yesterday, you called me several times to come and see you. We sat on the bed and had a long conversation about politics, life, farming, and business, and of course, we gossiped. We spoke about my swearing-in in three days’ time, and you specifically advised me to serve diligently in government.
“Ten minutes after I left your house, I got a call that you were unresponsive. I rushed back, and we took you to the hospital, but you were gone. Thank you for being my father, my best friend, my number one cheerleader, and for everything you did for me. Say hi to Mum for all of us.
“We will miss you. Rest in perfect peace, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.”
