Anthony Joshua Sets Sights on Heavyweight Glory with Tyson Fury Showdown in 2025
Nigerian-born British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua, has publicly expressed his ambition to reclaim his status as a three-time world heavyweight champion and to defeat Tyson Fury in a highly anticipated match scheduled for 2025. Joshua made these remarks following his visit to President Bola Tinubu, during which he spoke with State House Correspondents in Lagos.
When discussing his aspirations for the upcoming fight against Fury, Joshua stated, “We’ll see, let’s get in the ring. Only God knows,” emphasizing that the outcome is uncertain but expressing confidence in his capabilities. He conveyed his relentless drive for success and commitment to rigorous training moving forward.
“I recognize that time is crucial and limited. My goal is to intensify my efforts,” Joshua remarked. He added that he hopes to reflect on 2024 with the belief that he could have accomplished more, finding motivation as he prepares for another opportunity in 2025.
Joshua expressed disappointment over his recent performance, particularly in a match against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 23, 2024, which he felt he should have won. He remains steadfast, declaring, “I’m going to go again. Ups and downs happen — my journey is certainly not a straight line, and I have to adapt to the turbulent times while pressing forward towards my goals.”
Reflecting on his meeting with President Tinubu, Joshua shared that he felt a positive energy throughout the visit. “It was a great honor to meet His Excellency, and they provided exceptional hospitality to me and my family today. I was impressed by how the country is organized and has ambitious plans moving forward,” he concluded.
