Kano Anti-Graft Agency Uncovers Massive Re-bagging Scheme Involving 28 Trucks of Federal Government Rice Palliatives Allegedly Diverted for Illegal Market Sale
The Kano State Anti-Corruption Commission has exposed a warehouse in Hotoro Western Bypass, where federal government rice palliatives meant for the poor were being re-bagged for alleged sale on the open market.
The discovery, led by the commission’s chairman, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji, involved 28 trucks of rice intended to alleviate the hardships of vulnerable citizens.
Addressing the press, Magaji described the act as a “shameful and heartless” exploitation of public resources.
“These palliatives were meant for the poor and vulnerable, but some individuals are trying to profit from their suffering,”
he stated.
“We will leave no stone unturned in bringing those responsible to justice. Our priority is to recover the diverted goods and ensure proper distribution to the intended beneficiaries.”
Magaji vowed to hold the perpetrators accountable, stressing the agency’s commitment to tackling corruption and protecting the interests of the public.
This revelation highlights ongoing challenges in managing relief supplies, underscoring the need for transparency and vigilance in ensuring aid reaches its intended recipients.
