Gunmen Attack RCCG Pastor’s Home in Nasarawa, Kill Only Son for Resisting, Demand N30M Ransom for Abducted Wife
Gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed the residence of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor, Austin Ifeji, in the early hours of Monday, February 17, killing his son and abducting his wife.
The attack occurred in Gwagwalada, a part of Mararaba in Nasarawa State, near Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. Reports indicate that the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the home, leaving Pastor Ifeji with severe machete wounds while his son was fatally shot.
A local source revealed that the young man, the only son in a family of five children, tried to resist the bandits as they assaulted his mother.
“He couldn’t bear seeing them manhandle his mother, so he confronted them, and they shot him,”
the source said.
Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The attackers have since demanded a ransom of N30 million for the release of the pastor’s wife.
Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Command, through its spokesperson Rahman Nansel, stated that it is yet to receive an official briefing on the incident.
Authorities are urged to take swift action to secure the victim’s release and bring the perpetrators to justice.
