Bauchi State Governor Allocates N130 Million for Qur’anic Recitation Competition

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has announced the allocation of N130 million to fund the 39th edition of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition. The unveiling of the event took place on Saturday in Jama’are Local Government Area, where the governor emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting the practice of Qur’anic memorization among the youth in the state.

Represented by Abubakar Sulaiman, Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, the governor highlighted Bauchi’s historical significance in the context of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition, noting the outstanding achievements of the state’s participants at both national and international levels. “The history of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Nigeria cannot be discussed without mentioning Bauchi State, given the remarkable performance of its contestants who have distinguished themselves in various competitions,” he stated.

Governor Mohammed called upon participants to view Qur’anic recitation as more than a mere contest, pointing out the substantial spiritual benefits associated with the practice. He expressed his hope for a successful and smooth competition.

During the event, the Chairman of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee, Hassan Zango, praised the governor for the continued support the competition has received over the years. He affirmed the committee’s commitment to ensuring fairness and integrity throughout the competition, which aims to maintain the state’s reputation for excellence on both national and international stages.

The competition has attracted participants from all twenty local government areas of the state, who will compete in six different categories.
