Borno State Governor's Son Arrested for Killing Chinese National in Fight over a woman

In a shocking turn of events, Umar Zulum Umara, the son of Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has been arrested and detained by Indian authorities for allegedly killing a Chinese national in a fight over a woman at a nightclub in New Delhi.

According to SaharaReporters, the incident occurred two weeks ago, while Governor Zulum was attending a post-insurgency workshop in Pakistan alongside governors from Adamawa and Yobe states. The sources revealed that Umar, a student at a university in New Delhi, engaged in a fight with the Chinese national over a woman at the nightclub, resulting in the latter’s death after being hit on the head with a bottle of alcohol.

The incident is reportedly not the first time the governor’s family has been embroiled in controversy. A family insider revealed that Governor Zulum himself had a similar experience at a young age, where he was involved in a fatal fight.

The arrest of Umar has sparked concern among family members and associates, who are working to resolve the matter. Governor Zulum is said to have traveled to India after receiving news of the incident and attempted to resolve the matter with the Chinese parents of the deceased person. However, Indian authorities have insisted that the murder is a crime against the state and not just against the individual or his family.

Umar is currently being detained and will likely face prosecution in due course. This development has raised questions about the lifestyle of the governor’s family, with some insiders describing it as “reckless.” The incident has also sparked concerns about the governor’s own character, given his similar past experience.

It is worth noting that Umar was previously arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Maiduguri International Airport several months ago for allegedly attempting to smuggle excess hard currency. However, the matter was later downplayed and it was claimed that he was contracted to supply vehicles.
