The husband of one of the victims of suspected kidnap in the case of the missing girls in Aba, Mr. Tony, has said that the police and some friends extorted a total of N7m from him and Celine’s family to help track the whereabouts of the missing girls but did nothing.
Mr. Tony said this during a live video broadcast on Facebook anchored by popular influencer, Daddy Freeze.
Two ladies, Celine Ndudim and Afiba Tandoh had gone missing in April, 2024, after visiting one Andrew Amechi Ocheckwo, a British-Nigerian businessman in Aba, Abia state. An SOS message from Afiba to a friend a day after their visit indicated that they had been kidnapped by the man they had gone to visit. The girls have remained missing since then.
Mr. Tony narrated how the Nigerian police officers at the Aba police command requested for money before they could take action after the case was reported by Celine’s sister two days after they had visited the suspect.
He further stated that one of Celine’s friend may also be culpable in the case. Tony claims that friend and her boyfriend also extorted him of the sum of N2m claiming it was used to settle a special police squad who were to transfer the case to Abuja.
Mr. Tony also said that his wife, Afiba would not sleep with a man for me and was never into hookup.
The case has become a trending issue in the Nigerian social media space, prompting the country’s police chief to call for a detailed investigation.
