Court Grants N5 Million Bail to PIDOMNigeria Over Alleged Cyber Crimes

Bristol Isaac Tamunobifiri, better known by his X handle “PIDOMNigeria,” has been granted bail after his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Justice Emeka Nwite set the bail at N5 million with one surety in the same amount.

The decision came after a motion filed by human rights activist Deji Adeyanju, who leads Bristol’s legal defense team. PIDOM was charged with nine offenses, including conspiracy, leaking classified documents, sedition, and cyber-related crimes.

The Inspector-General of Police had previously accused PIDOM of illegally accessing and sharing sensitive directives from the IGP’s office. The police further alleged that he raised funds to support cyberterrorism and evaded taxes.

This development follows Justice Emeka Nwite’s earlier refusal to grant bail in a previous hearing. PIDOM was arrested several weeks ago, with police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi claiming his actions posed a threat to public order.

The case has sparked widespread attention, particularly due to PIDOMNigeria’s presence on social media.
