The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into an alleged incident of misconduct by two of its officials at a hotel in Lagos. According to reports, the officers were seen in a viral video forcefully entering a hotel room at Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos, sparking concerns about their actions.
In a statement, EFCC officials revealed that the incident occurred during an early morning sting operation, which led to the arrest of several suspects who are currently being profiled. However, an investigation has been launched to determine whether any of the officers involved acted outside the bounds of their authority or broke any rules.
The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the immediate arrest of the officers involved and assured that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found to be culpable. Olukoyede also emphasized the commission’s commitment to carrying out its duties professionally and with respect for the rule of law.
The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of EFCC officials and their accountability, with many calling for greater transparency and oversight to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. Investigations are still ongoing, and further details will be released to the public as they become available.
