Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has dismissed reports that he has resigned from his position.
The Super Eagle Coach addressed the speculation, emphasizing that the rumors were false.
“It’s just unfortunate that people triggered something that is not correct, and the situation we are in now, we don’t need negative stories,” Eguavoen said upon the team’s arrival in Abuja, as quoted by BSN Sports.
Super Eagle Coach clarified his earlier comments, explaining that he only mentioned plans to meet with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) hierarchy after the two qualifying matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Benin Republic and Rwanda. He added that the purpose of the meeting would be to discuss the next steps for the team moving forward.
Eguavoen has been serving as the interim head coach after the NFF failed to appoint a permanent coach in time for the crucial AFCON qualifiers. He remains in charge as the Super Eagles continue their preparations for the upcoming games.
