In a remarkable display of bravery, the family of a bride-to-be, along with other passengers, successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt by killing a terrorist in Zamfara State. According to reports from PRNigeria, the incident occurred when the bride’s family and fellow travelers fell victim to an ambush by bandit-terrorists along the Talata Mafara-Gusau highway.
The bride’s family had set out on a journey to procure wedding attire and other materials in Kano. However, their trip turned perilous when armed bandits launched an attack on their convoy. An eyewitness, speaking to PRNigeria, described the swift and spontaneous response of the targeted victims once the bandits initiated their assault. Despite one of the assailants managing to flee, the courageous passengers were able to seize two AK-47 rifles from the attackers.
Detailing the sequence of events, the eyewitness recounted the moment the travelers encountered the armed bandits blocking the road with motorcycles a few kilometers from the Fangal Tama checkpoint. The bandits immediately ordered the bride-to-be, her parents, and two other relatives out of their vehicle at gunpoint, coercing them to follow into the nearby forest.
Faced with the imminent threat of abduction, the passengers made a bold decision to fight back. Rallying together, they launched a daring attack on one of the bandits, engaging in a fierce struggle that resulted in the assailant’s demise. The other bandit managed to escape, abandoning his firearm in the process.
Having successfully neutralized the threat, the courageous group retrieved the seized weapons and emerged from the forest. They wasted no time in handing over the captured firearms to military personnel stationed at a nearby checkpoint, ensuring that the weapons did not fall back into the hands of criminals.
Despite their heroic efforts, tragedy struck amidst the chaos. One of the passengers, overwhelmed by the traumatic experience, suffered a sudden heart attack and tragically passed away after being rushed to the hospital.
