FG Sets June 15 as Deadline for Fire Service Recruitment

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced that the ongoing recruitment process into the Federal Fire Service (FFS) will conclude on June 15, 2024.

Minister of Interior and chairman of the Board, Olubumi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed the updated timeline during the Board’s quarterly review meeting.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized that the new date aligns with the Board’s revised schedule for employment in the paramilitary Services under its jurisdiction.

Shortlisted candidates will receive notifications via email and mobile messages to visit the Board’s portal, according to Ja’afaru Ahmed, secretary of the CDCFIB, who represented Tunji-Ojo at the meeting.

Tunji-Ojo cautioned the public against responding to social media messages soliciting payments for job placement, labeling them as fraudulent.

Additionally, the Board addressed 118 cases involving officers from the four Services it oversees. Among these, 48 officers from the Nigerian Correctional Service, 21 from the Nigeria Immigration Service, 12 from the Federal Fire Service, and 37 from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were implicated.

The outcomes revealed that 30 officers faced dismissal, while five others are set for dismissal and prosecution.

Nine officers were recommended for retirement, and 17 face demotion and disciplinary action. Conversely, 14 officers were cleared of charges and recommended for commendation letters.
