Governor Adeleke Quits PDP, Citing Deepening National Leadership Crisis

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending a long-standing affiliation with the party under which he was elected.

The governor announced his decision late Monday in a statement posted on his official Instagram page, confirming that he tendered his resignation at the ward level earlier this month.

According to Adeleke, the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP at the national level made it untenable for him to continue as a member.

“Due to the ongoing crisis within the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party at the national level, I officially conveyed my resignation letter as a member to the party leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025,” he said.

Adeleke’s departure adds to mounting tensions within the opposition party, which has struggled with internal divisions and power tussles in recent years. His next political move remains unclear, but observers say the development could significantly reshape Osun’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
