The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has increased the bounty for information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of five soldiers who were brutally murdered at Obikabia junction in Aba.
ReportAfrique reported that the governor had earlier placed a bounty of N25 million, but has now increased it to N30 million.
The soldiers were shot dead and their patrol vans burnt by unknown gunmen at a military checkpoint in Ogbor Hill, Aba. The governor has vowed to make Abia a safe state for all citizens, and has promised that under his watch, the state will not be a haven for terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminals.
The increase in the bounty was made possible through a donation from an indigene of the state residing in the United States of America. The governor held a meeting with top military officers at his residence in Umuehim Nvosi, where he commended their efforts in maintaining law and order in the state.
The governor’s decision to increase the bounty is seen as a clear indication of his commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the heinous crime are brought to justice. The people of Abia are eagerly awaiting the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators, and are hoping that the increased bounty will lead to a breakthrough in the investigation.
