Authorities Confirm Kidnapping of Two Catholic Nuns in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Catholic nuns by unidentified gunmen along the Ufuma Road in the Orumba North Local Government Area.

The incident was reported by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement released to the media on Wednesday. According to Ikenga, the nuns were taken on Tuesday evening while they were returning from a vocational service meeting in Ogboji.

In response to the kidnapping, a joint security operation has been initiated with the aim of rescuing the victims. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nnaghe Itam, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing operations visited the scene to conduct a site assessment.

Ikenga mentioned that the police force is pursuing several leads to apprehend those responsible for the crime and secure the safe return of the nuns. Additional information will be provided as the situation develops.
