Police arrests human trafficking suspect in Ogun state, Nigeria

A 35 year-old human trafficking kingpin, Mrs Comfort Innocent, have been apprehended by men of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command in Nigeria for the trafficking of two under-age girls.

The arrest of the suspect according to Police Force followed reports by two residents – Oluwaseun Aduratola and Sakirat Fasasi- of a town in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.

REPORT AFRIQUE gathered that the report made at Owode Egba Police station alleged that the suspect abducted their daughters namely Blessing Aduratola, 15 and Hasisat Fasasi, 16.

The Divisional Police Officer, Owode Egba Division, CSP Mathew Ediae quickly swung into action on the strength of the report and his team succeeded in arresting the suspect.

The suspect who was apprehended last Thursday, over the abduction of the two girls, was said to be taking them to Libya where they will be forced into prostitution

After the arrest, upon interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to being a human trafficker and that she has been in the business for a very long time.

Comfort Innocent further confessed that her husband is based in Italy while she stays in Nigeria recruiting young girls and often sends the girls to her husband en-route Libya where they are forced into prostitution.

The two girls have been rescued by the Ogun State police command.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, in Ogun state has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigations.

The Commissioner of Police also used the medium to appeal to parents to always be be at alert and be mindful of their children’s well-being especially the female ones.
