Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo Honored as Governor of the Year for Agriculture 2024

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has been recognized as the Governor of the Year for Agriculture 2024 by Independent Newspapers Limited, the publisher of Daily Independent Newspaper. This accolade highlights his administration’s significant efforts to enhance agriculture and ensure food security within the state.

A statement released on Sunday by Ismail Isah, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, noted that the award was presented in Abuja. It was received on behalf of Governor Ododo by Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications.

“This achievement marks the third major award for the Governor from various media organizations this year, demonstrating his dedication to food security, sustainable agricultural practices, and the inclusion of women and youth in governance in Kogi State,” Isah stated.

The Daily Independent’s recognition reaffirms the governor’s initiatives that aim to empower farmers through mechanized farming, foster youth and women’s involvement in agriculture, and enhance the agricultural value chain in the region.

Isah further emphasized that Ododo’s interventions in agriculture and food security have significantly increased food production in Kogi, positioning the state as a vital player in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Earlier this year, Ododo was honored with the Political Personality of the Year Award by the Sun Newspaper and also received the Governor of the Year Award from the Daily Asset Newspaper, along with the Youth-Friendly Governor Award from the National Association of Kogi State Students, acknowledging his efforts in youth empowerment.
