Miyetti Allah Chief and Three Others Slain by Bandits In Katsina
Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Chairman Killed by Bandits in Katsina State

Tragedy struck in Katsina State as suspected bandits have reportedly killed Alhaji Amadu Surajo, the Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). The attack occurred late Saturday night in Mai Rana village, located in the Kusada Local Government Area.

Confirming the incident, the Katsina State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, stated in a phone interview, “The DPO informed me that the incident happened last night.” The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, also corroborated the information, affirming that bandits were responsible for the murder.

Alongside Surajo, three other individuals were also killed, and several others sustained injuries during the assault. Reports indicate that the attack occurred during the early hours of Sunday, causing significant distress in the community.

Sources reveal that, in addition to the fatalities, the assailants abducted Surajo’s two wives, along with one of his daughters, an undergraduate at a public university in Nigeria. However, it was later reported that Surajo’s first wife was released by the kidnappers.

Before his tragic death, Surajo served as the state secretary of MACBAN before stepping up as Acting Chairman following the mysterious disappearance of Munnir Lamido, the association’s National Vice President and Katsina State Chairman, who vanished in June 2024. Lamido had been en route to Kaduna when he last contacted his family, informing them of a stop in Zaria for a meal. His subsequent disappearance sparked widespread concern, with his vehicle and mobile phones found abandoned a short distance from Kaduna, leading security authorities to declare him missing.

In response to the recent violence, security operatives are reportedly deployed to the area to maintain order and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The remains of Surajo and the other victims are expected to be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs later on Sunday, while the injured parties are currently receiving medical treatment.
