Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State has announced that the state’s monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has reached N10 billion. Speaking during his one-year anniversary lecture, Bago highlighted the government’s goal of increasing this figure to N100 billion by 2025. He noted that his administration inherited an IGR of N4 billion from the previous government and has since more than doubled it.
During the event, Governor Bago emphasized that the “New Niger Agenda” is a concrete and achievable vision, rather than just a slogan. He stressed the administration’s commitment to ambitious and impactful projects that benefit the citizens of Niger State.
“We are bold in our ambitions. Our focus is on spending resources wisely to improve people’s lives. The New Niger Agenda is already manifesting through various ongoing projects, and we aim to ensure that the people enjoy tangible benefits in all sectors,” Bago stated.
He further encouraged residents to hold the government accountable, asserting that providing basic necessities is a right, not a privilege. Bago expressed gratitude to his team and other government branches for their support and cooperation over the past year.
In their speeches, former Minister of Commerce Mustapha Bello and former Vice-Chancellor of IBB University, Lapai, Nasiru Maturate, commended Governor Bago’s efforts and urged him to stay focused on his transformative agenda.
