Okwukwu Pledges Unity, Advocacy for Restructuring, and State Creation in His Vision for Ndigbo
Renowned activist lawyer Barr. Uche Nnam Okwukwu has been elected as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a leading Igbo socio-cultural organization.
Okwukwu, who was returned unopposed at the group’s convention in Port Harcourt, emerged as a consensus candidate after a keenly contested process involving more than four aspirants.
Okwukwu’s Vision for Ndigbo
In his acceptance speech, the new president pledged to lead the Igbo people with unity, equity, and determination. His administration’s key focus areas include advocating for the unconditional release of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader and pushing for the restructuring of Nigeria.
“We shall encourage the Federal and State governments to engage all agitators to address grievances, ensuring a just resolution to lingering issues,” Okwukwu stated.
Commitment to Igbo Unity and State Creation
Promising to unite the Igbo as one indivisible family, Okwukwu vowed to work tirelessly for the creation of Anioma State and other additional states like Aba, Adada, Etiti, or Orlu to ensure equity among Nigeria’s regions.
He assured delegates and the Igbo people of his dedication to defending their rights and interests, saying,
“I will live up to the high expectations of my people and champion the Igbo cause on all fronts.”
