Police nab 3 smuggling drugs in bread to detained suspect

The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended three individuals for allegedly attempting to smuggle hard drugs concealed within a loaf of bread to another suspect in police custody. According to the State Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, the suspects were caught with an unspecified quantity of drugs hidden in the bread.

The suspects have been identified as John Solomon, 38, Kunle Oluwale, 45, and James Daniel Baba, 45, all residents of Sabon Wuse, Abuja. They were detained at the charge room of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Kaduna.

In a statement released on Sunday, ASP Hassan detailed the arrests, stating that the trio attempted to pass the loaf containing the drugs to Gideon Amao, a suspect under investigation by the SCID. The suspects also had a Bomtel handset among their possessions.

Following the arrests, photographs of the suspects and the confiscated items were taken. The police have launched an investigation, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, has issued a warning to officers to maintain vigilance and be observant to prevent such incidents in the future. This incident underscores the importance of strict security measures and the need for continuous alertness among police personnel.
