In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman identified only as Mrs. Ogunbunmi has been abducted by unknown assailants in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The victim was reportedly on her way to the state’s General Hospital in Ijaiye, Abeokuta, when she was taken away.
According to sources close to the family, Mrs. Ogunbunmi left her home in Oke Lantoro for the hospital but was kidnapped along the way. Her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, received a distressing WhatsApp message from an unknown number informing him of his wife’s abduction.
The police have confirmed the incident, although details are still scarce. In a statement issued on Thursday, a police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said that Mr. Ogunbunmi reported his wife’s disappearance after receiving the alarming message. “He received a WhatsApp message confirming that his pregnant wife had been taken away by unknown armed men,” she stated.
The motive behind the kidnapping is still unknown, and the police are working to locate Mrs. Ogunbunmi and bring her safely back to her family. The authorities have appealed to anyone with information on the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. The family and friends of the abducted woman are understandably anxious and worried about her well-being, particularly given her advanced stage of pregnancy.
