Presidency Clarifies President Tinubu’s Two-Week Leave Amid Travel Speculations
Abuja, Nigeria – The Presidency has addressed recent speculation surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s travel itinerary, confirming that he is still on a two-week leave.
On October 2, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, announced that President Tinubu would be departing Abuja for a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, emphasizing that it forms part of his annual leave. The initial statement indicated that the President would utilize this period for a working vacation and to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.
In a recent update, President Tinubu was reported to have left the United Kingdom for Paris, France, on Friday. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, the President’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs, shared this news through his verified X account, expressing that the President was set to attend a significant event in Paris. Masari noted, “Today, I had the honour of visiting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR at his private residence in the United Kingdom, where we engaged in productive discussions. We then departed for Paris, France, for another important engagement.”
In response to the reactions and questions regarding the President’s travels, Onanuga reiterated on Friday night that the President’s leave is not confined solely to the United Kingdom. He stated that President Tinubu is at liberty to travel anywhere during his time off, explaining, “President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK. It is his private time. He can go anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave.”
