The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite, has revealed that the ongoing EndBadGovernance protest has caused an estimated economic loss of N500 billion.

The figure includes the destruction of goods valued at N52 billion, as well as the loss of 21 lives.

In a statement, the Minister lamented the devastating impact of the protest on businesses and entrepreneurs across the country. She expressed her condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and urged for a more peaceful and constructive approach to resolving the issues.

The looting and destruction of property during the protest has resulted in significant losses for businesses and individuals, setting back the economy and threatening the livelihoods of many. The Minister’s remarks come as the country continues to grapple with the aftermath of the protest, which has resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life. As calls for accountability and reforms continue to grow, it is clear that the economic impact of the protest will be felt for some time to come.

In her statement, Dr. Anite urged all stakeholders to work towards a more peaceful and constructive dialogue to resolve the issues at hand, adding that “the loss of lives during the protests is saddening” and that “honouring those we’ve lost by striving for more peaceful and constructive dialogue” is essential.
