Pastor Enoch Adeboye Voices Concerns Over Arrest of RCCG Pastor Abroad
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has expressed concern regarding the recent arrest of one of the church’s pastors overseas. The pastor faced charges for addressing an audience as “ladies and gentlemen,” a phrase that some deemed discriminatory for not encompassing all the gender identities recognized in their culture.
Adeboye shared this incident during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service held at the RCCG Throne of Grace in Lagos State, which was broadcasted to all RCCG parishes. His sermon was titled “My Father’s House.”
In his address, Adeboye warned, “The end is nearer than you think. Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call.” He recounted that the pastor was reported for discrimination over his use of the traditional greeting, with critics questioning, “What about those who are neither ladies nor gentlemen?”
Additionally, Adeboye highlighted another troubling scenario involving a woman who referred to her dog as her husband. When inquired about her spouse, she stated, “I took him to the vet before coming. He doesn’t talk,” indicating her “husband” was indeed a dog.
Expressing his alarm at the decline of moral values globally, Adeboye regarded these incidents as indicators of the approaching end times. He urged believers to strengthen their faith, warning against complacency: “Those of you already in Christ, take this matter seriously. Do not let anyone weaken your stand. God is holy. Those still playing church—singing, clapping, and enjoying things without genuine commitment—remember, Jesus is coming back. The devil wants to harvest you, but you must not give him the opportunity. I want to see you in my Father’s house,” he asserted.
The pastor, who often addresses societal issues and the influence of foreign cultures on the church, recently criticized men who wear braided hair and women who don heavy makeup and false eyelashes. He stated that such styles would no longer be accepted on RCCG altars.
Adeboye’s remarks come in light of his ongoing efforts to maintain traditional values within the church, emphasizing the need for adherence to biblical principles. His latest comments were part of a larger discourse at the church’s 72nd annual convention, which took place from August 5 to August 11, 2024, at The Redemption City in Mowe, Ogun State, with the theme “Heaven.”
