NGO gifts Former sex workers N1 million Each For business

In a heartwarming ceremony, the Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation has presented a N1 million grant each to two rescued commercial sex workers to kick-start their business ventures. The grant is a token of appreciation for their bravery in overcoming the traumatic experiences of sex trafficking and prostitution.

The rescued girls, who went through a six-month rehabilitation program, were trained in various skills and businesses before their graduation. The program aimed to equip them with the necessary tools to break free from the shackles of prostitution and build a brighter future.

At the cheque presentation ceremony held at the Local Government Service Commission, Abere, Osogbo, the wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, hailed the decision of the girls to abandon prostitution as “remarkable” and “commendable”. She emphasized the need for a more forward-thinking approach to address gender-based violence and social vices that threaten the well-being of young women.

Mrs. Doreen Omosele, Executive Director of Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation, attributed the girls’ success to proper parenting, urging parents to approach their children with love and focus on their development. She lamented that many girls would have achieved greatness if they had received proper parenting and exposure to life.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Needs, Kamil Aransi, described the rescued girls as heroines who had fought bravely against their past. He commended their determination and courage in overcoming the challenges they faced during their rehabilitation journey.

One of the rescued girls, Bolu, shared her harrowing experience of being lured into prostitution in Dubai by her father, whom she has since separated from. She described her escape from the sex trade as a miracle.

The grant presentation is seen as a testament to Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation’s commitment to supporting victims of human trafficking and promoting a safer environment for all citizens. The success story of these two women serves as an inspiration to others trapped in similar situations, demonstrating that it is possible to overcome adversity and build a better future.
