In a recent development from Nigeria security, President Bola Tinubu expressed relief and optimism following series of successful military operations against terrorist threats in the northwest region.
The President’s statement, released on Saturday, highlights the commitment of the Nigerian military to restore peace and security amidst ongoing challenges.
The operations, carried out by troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, led to the neutralization of notorious bandit leader Halilu Sububu, who had been wreaking havoc across Zamfara, Sokoto, and surrounding areas. Additionally, another key terrorist, Sani Burki, was eliminated in a collaborative effort in Katsina, while a terrorist enclave in Kaduna was dismantled, resulting in the rescue of 13 kidnapped students.
“The success of these operations reaffirms that our security operatives are more than capable of safeguarding the nation,” President Tinubu emphasized in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga. The statement, titled “President Tinubu Commends Military on Successful Operations in the North-West, Pledges Sustained Support,” underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing security challenges head-on.
Notably, these military successes came after President Tinubu directed service chiefs to relocate to the affected zone until stability is restored. He commended the military high command, intelligence agencies, and dedicated troops for their courage, collaboration, and commitment, which played a crucial role in achieving these commendable outcomes.
In his remarks, President Tinubu also acknowledged the overall improvement in the nation’s security and urged all security agencies to maintain their momentum until both immediate and underlying threats are eradicated. He reassured them of his unwavering support in their mission to keep Nigeria safe and secure.
