Truck Crash Into Worshippers in kano state, 15 people dead

A devastating truck accident has claimed the lives of 15 people, including four young boys, after a vehicle lost control and veered off the road during a busy Friday afternoon in the country. The incident occurred after a group of worshippers had just completed their daily prayers at a local mosque.

Yunusa Yusuf Imawa, a survivor of the tragedy, recounted how he narrowly escaped death by mere chance. Imawa sustained minor injuries, including bruises on his leg and hands, but is currently in stable condition and able to move around.

According to Imawa, the group had arrived late for the Juma’at mosque prayers, which usually commence at 2:15 pm, but they managed to catch up just as the prayer was underway. As they finished their devotions, a speeding vehicle suddenly lost control and swerved onto the pavement where they were standing, resulting in the loss of four lives.

“It was as if it was God’s destiny for me to survive,” Imawa said, reflecting on the narrow escape.

The accident has left many shaken, with a resident of the area, Kabiru Imawa, confirming that one additional fatality was reported in the early hours of Saturday, bringing the total death toll to 15.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) initially reported 14 fatalities, but this figure has since been updated to 15. In response to the tragedy, Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, has condoled with the families of the deceased.
