Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is preparing to lift travel restrictions between the UAE and Nigeria. This development follows recent discussions aimed at resolving visa denial issues faced by Nigerians.
Keyamo shared the update during a dinner event welcoming delegates to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) 80th Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit in Dubai. He noted that the final steps involve formalizing the agreement, with an official announcement expected within a few weeks.
Keyamo emphasized the significance of the UAE as a key partner for Nigeria, highlighting the substantial investments Nigerians have in the UAE. He assured that efforts are being made to facilitate easier travel and visa applications for Nigerians, addressing the high demand for reopening this travel route.
Reflecting on his reception in the UAE, Keyamo pointed out the special attention given to him by UAE officials, underscoring the importance of Nigeria to the UAE. He mentioned that his interactions with Dubai’s ruler and top Emirates executives signal a renewed trust and openness towards Nigeria, expressing gratitude for the renewed cooperation.
The minister affirmed his commitment to advancing these positive developments and ensuring the smooth reestablishment of travel ties between the two nations.
