Abuja, Nigeria – The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, has attributed his appointment to his counterpart in the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Lokpobiri made this statement on Saturday at an event organized by the Ijaw Peoples Congress in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, in honor of Wike.

The former Senator, who hails from Bayelsa, revealed that the journey to becoming a minister in President Bola Tinubu’s administration began at Wike’s residence in Port Harcourt and concluded at his own Abuja residence. Lokpobiri, who previously served as Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development from 2015 to 2019, expressed his gratitude to Wike for playing a significant role in his appointment.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources emphasized that Wike’s influence was instrumental in securing his second term as a minister. “It is important to tell you, my brothers and sisters, that my appointment as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources was also made possible by Nyesom Wike,” he said. “My second journey of becoming a minister started at the minister’s house in Port Harcourt, and it concluded in his house in Abuja.”

Lokpobiri went on to praise Wike’s benevolence, stating that the FCT Minister has a history of helping others. “It is always better to have a good friend than to have a bad brother,” he said. “Of what use is a bad brother? It is of no use. But if you have a good friend, such as the FCT minister, you are already blessed.”

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources extended his gratitude to Wike on behalf of the Ijaw people, expressing their appreciation for his show of love and support. He encouraged Wike to continue doing more for the Ijaw people, stating that they are grateful and willing to reciprocate his kindness with kindness rather than evil.
