Yobe Governor Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage for Civil Servants
Governor Mai Mala Buni Announces N70,000 Minimum Wage for Yobe State Civil Servants Starting December 2024

Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has officially approved a minimum wage of N70,000 for civil servants within the state, set to take effect from December 2024. This decision comes following the recommendations of a committee on minimum wage established by the state government.

Comrade Mohammed Mamman, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, shared that the approval is detailed in a memo signed by Governor Buni CON. The committee has advised a thorough reconciliation of local government finances to facilitate a smooth transition from the current salary framework to the newly established minimum wage.

The reconciliation process is reported to be approaching its conclusion and is expected to receive final approval soon. This will pave the way for the prompt integration of local government employees into the new minimum wage structure.

Mamman emphasized that the government anticipates state civil servants will respond to this initiative by enhancing their performance to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
