A 27-year-old woman, Khanyisile Mndayi, is in a coma and in critical condition after being stabbed more than 20 times by her boyfriend in front of their children on Sunday. The incident occurred at their home in Berea, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Mndayi was reportedly attacked by her boyfriend, identified as Bongani, after arriving home late from her shift at Tempo. She was subjected to insults, beaten, and then stabbed multiple times by Bongani, who is known on Facebook as Luuk De Jong.
The non-profit organization Women For Change, which combats gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa, reported that Bongani fled the scene after locking Mndayi and her children inside the house. Bongani was later arrested when he returned to the residence, allegedly with the intention of inflicting further harm. Neighbors had alerted the police, who apprehended him upon his return.
Mndayi is currently in the hospital, fighting for her life. Women For Change has called for justice for Mndayi and her children, urging authorities to take swift action.
