Bishop T.D. Jakes Shares Heartfelt Update Following Health Scare: ‘I’m Not Afraid to Die
Dallas, Texas – Bishop T.D. Jakes reassured his followers that he is “not afraid to die” in a poignant video shared Wednesday evening, marking his first public address following a recent health scare. The prominent pastor expressed immense gratitude towards his medical team and those who prayed for him after experiencing a health incident during Sunday services at The Potter’s House in Dallas.
In the video, Jakes, who was seated in a wheelchair in what appeared to be a hospital environment, revealed that his condition was not a stroke but could have turned life-threatening without divine intervention. “I’m so grateful. So grateful to y’all,” he said, emotionally acknowledging the medical staff around him clad in blue scrubs. He continued, “All the people who prayed. All the people who texted. All the people who had prayer vigils. All the people who were concerned and sent love and notes. Just grateful. Thank you.”
Sharing a deeply moving moment, the 67-year-old pastor stated, “I’m not afraid to die. I don’t want to hurt my kids and the people who love me and my church that needs me. The world who called me and the God who sent me. Sometimes you just got to be grateful.”
The health episode occurred while Jakes was preaching, leading him to suddenly sit down and tremble. Concerned church members swiftly surrounded him, and the live stream of the service was halted abruptly. Subsequently, The Potter’s House released a statement on social media, confirming, “During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”
Regarding his recovery, Jakes noted he is concentrating on rest and reflection. He mentioned in his Instagram statement, “My job is to recuperate and reflect on God’s protection. I owe it to my amazing family and church members to rest and ruminate as He restores me towards His service.”
At this time, the church has not provided details about when Bishop Jakes will return to his pastoral duties.
