Abuja – The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has summoned the Chief Judge of Rivers State and other involved judges from both the federal and state high courts, following conflicting rulings in ongoing political cases impacting Rivers State.

This comes amidst heightened tensions between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former governor of the state.

On Monday, Justice Kekere-Ekun convened a meeting in her office with a panel of the National Judicial Council (NJC), tasked with investigating the judicial conflicts and delivering a report within the week. The investigative panel, led by an undisclosed former justice of the Court of Appeal, includes two heads of courts among its members.

In response to mounting public concerns over these rulings, the CJN took the initiative to launch a comprehensive probe. The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court has also been summoned for questioning, with his session scheduled for Tuesday.

The NJC’s investigation will examine the rulings issued by the judges involved in the series of cases surrounding the political rift between Governor Fubara and his estranged mentor, Wike.
