A chilling discovery has led to the arrest of a man in Ogun State, Nigeria, for allegedly exhuming and beheading a corpse for ritual purposes.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, Lekan Akinyemi was apprehended on Monday after a resident reported suspicious activities around his father’s grave in the Car Wash area of Abeokuta.
The resident, Nojeem Balogun, had inspected his father’s grave and found that the head of the corpse had been severed. The police were alerted, and operatives from the Adatan Division arrested Akinyemi, who was caught with the human skull.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the case will be investigated by the Anti-Robbery unit and subsequently transferred to the State CID for further investigation.
Akinyemi will face prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation, according to the police.
The Ogun State Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to combating crimes and criminalities in the state.
