Reason for Price Reduction
The refinery stated that the reduction was aimed at providing financial relief to Nigerians ahead of the Ramadan season and aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic recovery policy.
This is the second petrol price reduction in February 2025, following an earlier N60 decrease at the beginning of the month. Additionally, during the December 2024 yuletide season, Dangote Refinery had lowered fuel prices by N70.50, from N970 to N899.50 per litre, to ease the cost of living for Nigerians.
The management of Dangote Refinery assured the public of a steady supply of petroleum products, with enough reserves to meet domestic demand and surplus for export. The company also called on fuel marketers to support this initiative, ensuring that the benefits reach Nigerian consumers.
This development comes as part of ongoing efforts to stabilize fuel prices and reduce the financial burden on citizens, especially during critical periods like Ramadan.
