Governor Oborevwori’s decision comes after what insiders described as wide-ranging consultations with political stakeholders across the state and beyond.
Asaba, Nigeria – In a surprising political twist, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was confirmed on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, during a phone conversation with Vanguard. According to sources, the governor made the switch after a series of closed-door meetings held at the Government House in Asaba.
Governor Oborevwori’s decision comes after what insiders described as wide-ranging consultations with political stakeholders across the state and beyond. The move, he reportedly noted, aligns with his vision for the long-term growth and development of Delta State.
Elected in 2023 on the PDP platform, Governor Oborevwori’s switch to the APC is already generating significant buzz among political observers. Many analysts view the move as a calculated realignment with potential implications for the 2027 general elections.
