The EFCC’s action stems from an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering involving Achimugu. Her legal representatives confirmed the arrest, emphasizing her decision to comply with the EFCC’s earlier invitation after she had notified the Federal High Court in Abuja of her intention to do so.

This situation follows a court order issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo, which required Achimugu to report to the EFCC by April 29, 2025. Furthermore, the court has scheduled her subsequent appearance for legal proceedings on April 30, 2025, as the investigation unfolds.
