The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has begun repairs on three federal roads in Abia State, according to Festus Okafor, the Federal Road Maintenance Engineer in charge of Abia State.
The roads undergoing repairs include:
- Aba-Azumini-Akwa Ibom Road
- Umuahia- Bende- Ohafia Road
- Uturu-Mile 2- Ebonyi border Road
Okafor stated that the goal of the repairs is to ensure that federal roads in the state are passable without stress, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
He appealed for patience from commuters, noting that delays in intervention are often due to bureaucratic processes involved in contract approvals .
The repairs, executed through direct labour, started two weeks ago, focusing on proactive measures to prevent further road damage .
Okafor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and FERMA’s Managing Director, Dr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, for their support and proactive approach.
Abia State has a total of 14 federal roads, with FERMA committed to addressing additional roads as funds become available .
