Five Police Officers Killed, 11 Injured in Kano Auto Crash

Kano, Nigeria – Five police officers from the Kano State Police Command lost their lives in a tragic auto accident along the Kano-Zaria highway.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, also left 11 other officers injured.

The spokesperson for the command, Superintendent of Police Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the details to newsmen in Kano. He explained that the crash took place around Karfi Village in the Kura Local Government Area, while the officers were returning from an official assignment.

“The accident occurred at Karfi, a few kilometers from Kano. Five officers died at the scene, while 11 others sustained various injuries,” Haruna said. The crash, which happened around 1 a.m., was caused by a trailer attempting to reverse on the main road.

Haruna further stated that the injured officers are currently receiving treatment in a Kano hospital.
