BREAKING: Gov Fubara Approves N85,000 Minimum Wage for Civil Servants

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved a new minimum wage of N85,000 for civil servants.

This new wage aligns with the recent adjustment made by Lagos State.

The approval was announced by the Head of Service, George Nwaeke, following a closed-door meeting between the Governor, labour leaders, and senior government officials. According to Nwaeke, the implementation of the new wage will take effect immediately.

The Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Team, Chukwu Emecheta, commended the governor for addressing the demands of the state’s workforce. He praised Governor Fubara’s dedication to improving the living conditions of civil servants.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State, Alex Agwanwor, welcomed the development. He highlighted its potential to ease the financial difficulties currently faced by workers in the state.
