Abakaliki, Nigeria – Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has directed the arrest and prosecution of six staff members of the State Ministry of Health, including Mr. Ndukwe Ayansi, for allegedly diverting materials intended for the ministry.

The governor’s directive came after he personally inspected a project and discovered a Toyota Dyana truck loading registers, books, and other materials from the ministry’s warehouse without authorization. Further investigation revealed that patient data registers, cards, and other documents were being sold without government approval.

Governor Nwifuru condemned the act as sabotage against the government’s efforts to improve the health sector. “Our rural hospitals are requesting registers, data entry forms, and hospital cards, but unfortunately, the materials produced by the government are being sold illegally,” he said.

The suspects have been handed over to the police for more investigation. This development is part of the governor’s efforts to tackle corruption and ensure accountability in the state’s ministries and agencies.
