Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint in Anambra, Killing One Officer and Injuring Another

The assault occurred around 9:20 am when the assailants threw explosive devices at the police operatives stationed at the checkpoint.

According to Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Public Relations Officer, one officer was killed in the attack, and another sustained serious injuries. The injured officer is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Following the incident, State Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam has initiated a vigorous manhunt for the perpetrators. The operation, led by the Assistant Commissioner in charge of the Nnewi Area Command, involves collaboration with local residents to identify and apprehend the attackers.

Police have taken control of the area as investigations continue, with further updates expected as the situation develops.
