‘I Was Accused of Killing Mohbad’-Iyabo Ojo Speaks Out on Backlash
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has shed light on the intense public backlash she endured while advocating for justice for the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba.

In a heartfelt conversation on the show Glass House with comedian AY Makun, she detailed the accusations and personal attacks that came her way, despite her genuine efforts to seek accountability for the artist’s untimely death.

Iyabo Ojo revealed that her activism for Mohbad was met with hostility, with some critics going as far as accusing her of being involved in his death. These unfounded claims deeply troubled the actress, who clarified her limited interaction with the late singer. She recounted:

“They were even insinuating that maybe I killed Mohbad. I wasn’t around when Mohbad died. I was not close to him. I didn’t really know him that much.”

She explained that her encounters with Mohbad were brief, notably during the One Africa Music Fest, where she described him as a “cool boy” facing industry challenges.

She dismissed suggestions that her actions were driven by clout or financial incentives, questioning why she would seek an autopsy if she were guilty of any wrongdoing.

“If I killed him, then why was I fighting for his body to be exhumed for autopsy?” she asked, calling out the irrationality of such accusations.

The Nollywood star did not shy away from sharing the emotional toll of the online backlash. Critics accused her of being a “clout chaser,” alleging that she was leveraging Mohbad’s tragic death for attention. Despite the negativity, Iyabo remained undeterred.

“There are so many things that have been said about me. But I am not bothered because that isn’t the case. All I did was just to help seek justice for the late singer,” she affirmed.
