Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday announced the payment of student bursary to all indigent students of Oyo State and also handed over 28 18-seater buses to student leaders in the state.
According to a statement released by Governor Makinde on his social media handle, the process for the bursary payment will be done online to help facilitate the process.
The Governor also announced that his personal scholarship scheme will be implemented within 8 weeks.
The Oyo State Governor joins his counterparts in the payment of student bursaries as Lagos and Ogun had last week commenced the process in their various states.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s reason for the bursary payment is a measure to cushion the negative effects of the rising inflation in Nigeria on Oyo State students.
The statement reads in full, “This morning, we handed over 28 18-seater buses to Federal, State, Indigenous and Special Education institutions in Oyo State in fulfilment of a promise I made to students. I announced that I had approved the payment of bursaries and scholarships to students and that the process would be online to ensure they could register to receive it easily. I also assured our students that our administration will continue to take measures to ease the hardship they are facing and that my personal scholarship scheme will also be implemented within 8 weeks”.
