Ehime Mbano, Imo State — A violent confrontation between soldiers and armed gunmen in the Aba Branch area of Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State, has reportedly resulted in multiple deaths and injuries.

The incident, which occurred on the night of Tuesday, October 8, 2024, has left the area in chaos, with sources confirming that several soldiers were ambushed and killed by the armed group.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as a battlefield, as heavy gunfire erupted, forcing residents to flee their homes in fear for their safety. One witness recounted how the situation escalated rapidly, transforming the once peaceful community into a war zone.

“Some non-state actors attacked and killed soldiers in the area yesterday,” a source revealed to The Nation. “The whole place is engulfed in chaos, and troops have taken control of nearby communities.”

The presence of military personnel has heightened tension in the area, as troops move to secure surrounding villages. The atmosphere remains tense, with many residents still in hiding.
