Police Arrest Six Cybercrime Suspects in Rivers State

Ilorin, Nigeria – The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended five suspects in connection with the murder of Comrade Adebayo Olanrewaju Mathew, a 46-year-old University of Ilorin graduate.

The incident took place on Sunday night in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government Area.

According to reports, Mathew was involved in a confrontation with local security personnel as he was walking home. During the altercation, the victim was allegedly attacked with machetes, leaving him critically wounded. He was abandoned at the scene by his assailants.

On Tuesday, the police arrested five individuals, including the community chairman and two local security men. They have since been transferred to the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Ilorin for further investigation.

When contacted, the Kwara State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the arrests. She clarified that only five men were taken into custody and no women were involved.

The suspects were brought in on Wednesday night, and the investigation is expected to commence on Thursday.
